My journey into packaging began with a fascination for the science behind materials. I dedicated my PhD research at the University of Auckland to advancing the understanding and development of innovative packaging solutions. This academic foundation, combined with years of hands-on experience leading packaging development and sustainability initiatives within demanding FMCG environments and innovative material start-ups right here in New Zealand and across Australasia, showed me a critical gap.
I saw businesses facing increasing pressure: complex regulations like APCO reporting and ARL rollouts, ambitious sustainability targets, volatile costs, and the constant need for innovation. I realised that navigating these challenges successfully requires a unique blend of technical knowledge, commercial acumen, and practical experience.

With my PhD focused on packaging materials engineering and significant experience as a Packaging Specialist and R&D Lead across major FMCG corporations and innovative compostable packaging firms, I have a comprehensive, hands-on understanding of the industry in our region.
My expertise spans:
- Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of material science, packaging development (NPD), R&D project management, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance.
- Sustainability Leadership: A proven track record in implementing sustainable packaging strategies, driving CO2 reductions, managing APCO reporting, understanding ARL requirements, and exploring circular economy models (including compostables and recycle-ready structures).
- Regulatory Acumen: In-depth familiarity with AU/NZ packaging regulations and compliance requirements.
